Overview

This project was made in collaboration with four others as a group project. Each of us had to design four articles and three ads; I decided to do the four articles, the three ads, but additionally took on designing a feature article with two of the other designers.

We decided to make the topic of our magazine on Sustainable Design and split it into four departments: technology, living, community, and art. Each designer provided an article for each department.

I held the role of Co-Project Manager and Head of Research & Copy. Within my role as Head of Research & Copy I guided my groupmates on picking their articles, ensuring that they were the correct word count necessary for the project. As well as helping define what articles fight under which departments. Additionally, I did the initial editing to the copy.

As Co-Project Manager I kept my groupmates on task and assigned due dates along the way. I lead group discussions, offered feedback, bounced ideas back and forth when people needed help, and created the templates for pages we called "trailheads" which were additionally fact pages to go along with articles.

Mission Statement:
Often, when discussions occur around a sustainable future, it’s common to hear “doomsday” comments. As news progresses, more and more people repeat the idea that nothing can be done; it’s too late. However, scientists, designers, manufacturers, entrepreneurs, and everyday individuals are constantly working to create a sustainable future. There’s no time for doomsday–read, get involved, do your part, engage with the topic; it’s time to trace the shape of our future.

The goal of this magazine is to bring awareness to various aspects of sustainability and persuade people that they can be involved as well.

Our target market and demographics focused on Gen Z, young conscious consumers, and environmentalists.

We wanted the magazine to be experimental. Something that kept coming up throughout the process was the idea of each of us tracing our own mark, so we tried to push our creativity for our spreads and make something. My spreads were created using various traditional techniques like watercolor and gouache paintings, digital collage, and digital photography.
